Chalice are a very rare breed in that they can co-ordinate very high class female vocals (think Opera) with rock music and create an album that is emotional, sad and inspiring rather than seeming like Slayer with female vocals. Which would be bad!
The tracks are long (9 or 6 minutes each with only one at 3 minutes). It's progressive metal, with release areas in the tracks and slow breakdowns and layers of complexity.
Oh and Shiralee is the tiny and cute singer you expect her to be from her singing... judging from the photos provided amongst the lyrics in the inlay.
Violins, guitars, drums, synths and female vocals that wail, make you shiver and force you to sit and think childhood thoughts :-). All in all a fantastic and deep album
