This intensive event is designed for transitioning military (with more the 15 years of service). Personnel may attend this event up to 2 years prior to expected retirement date but NLT 90 days prior to that date. 

During this 3-day event there are presentations on the congressionally mandated pre-separation briefing (completion of DD Form 2648) and in-depth information about the job search. Topics covered are listed below: 

        Identifying and dealing with stress

        Planning for your future

        Identifying and translating skills

        Creating an effective marketing document (resume)

        Creating an effective cover letter and its use in the marketing plan

        Selection of references and preparing them to promote your skills, etc.

        Networking – doing it effectively

        Identifying sources of employment

        Interviewing skills and tips

        Job offers and salary negotiation

Additionally, there will be information about Federal Employment, a special panel of employers to initiate dialogue with the private sector, and an extensive briefing by the VA on Veterans' Benefits.  Following completion of the event, individual counseling will be available.
