Joseph C. Huddleston

Know all men by these presents that I Allen Huddleston of the county and State aforesaid for the consideration of two thousand dollars to me in hand paid by Joseph C. Huddleston of the said County and State the receipt whereof I hereby acknowledge, have bargained sold and delivered and by these presents do bargain sell and deliver unto said Joseph C. Huddleston the following negro slaves for life, to wit, John about thirty five years old, Richmond about twenty one years old, Milledge about fifteen years old, Harriett about twelve years old and Caroline about ten years old. To have and to hold the said slaves to him the said Joseph C. Huddleston from the lawful title or claim of every person or persons whatever. Given under my hand and seal this 24th August 1830 Signed Allen Huddleston (Seal) in the presence of Horatio G. Perry ___

The State of Alabama Dallas County. Personally appeared before me James D. Craig clerk of the County Court of said County the above named Allen Huddleston whose name is subscribed to the aforegoing deed who acknowledged that he signed sealed and delivered the same on the day and year therein named for the uses and purposes therein contained to the aforesaid Joseph C. Huddleston. Given under my hand and private seal there being no seal of office this 25th day of August 1830 James D. Craig (Clk)

"I have received of Allen Huddleston two thousand dollars full discharge of the within bill of sale, and the same I do cancel and give up to said Allen Huddleston Given under my hand and seal this 26th Decr. 1831. Joseph C. Huddleston Test Wm Phillips."
