almighty and everlasting god,
we thank you that you have brought us safely
to the beginning of this day.
keep us from falling into sin
or running into danger,
order us in all our doings
and guide us to do always
what is righteous in your sight;
through jesus christ our lord. amen

god, who from of old
taught the hearts of your faithful people
by sending to them the light of your holy spirit:
grant us by the same spirit
to have a right judgement in all things
and evermore to rejoice in his holy comfort;
through the merits of christ jesus our saviour. amen
an evening prayer
lighten our darkness,
lord, we pray,
and in your great mercy
defend us from all perils and dangers of this night,
for the love of your only son,
our saviour jesus christ. amen
